How to Choose the Right Network for Your Crypto on Altcoins.bg
Blockchain transfers are generally irreversible. The name of the crypto-asset, for example “USDC” or “ETH”, is not enough. Always check the specific network, address and any required memo/tag.
How to choose the correct network for a crypto transfer?
The same crypto-asset may be supported on more than one blockchain network. This does not mean that you can send it to any address or through any network.
The safest approach is to start with the recipient. Check which network they support for the specific asset, then select the same network when sending.

The main rule: активът и мрежата са две различни неща
A crypto-asset may be available across different blockchain networks. For example, USDC may be supported on Ethereum, Solana or another network.
If the recipient accepts the asset only through a specific network, sending it through another network may not be recognised and, in some cases, may result in loss of funds.
That is why, when making a crypto transfer, you should check not only which asset you are sending, but also which network you are using.
What should you check for different crypto-assets?
| What you see | What you need to check |
|---|---|
| ETH | Does the recipient expect ETH via the Ethereum network, or do they support other networks as well? |
| USDC | Which network should the asset be sent through: Ethereum, Solana, Tron or another supported network? |
| XRP | XRP Ledger address and destination tag, if required by the recipient. |
| SOL | Solana address and Solana network. |
| BTC | Bitcoin network and a valid Bitcoin address in a supported format. |
Checks before every external crypto transfer
Select the correct asset
Check the ticker and the name of the crypto-asset, but do not stop there.
Open Deposit/Receive on the recipient’s side
There you should see the network or networks supported for the specific asset.
Select the same network when sending
The sender’s network and the recipient’s network must match.
Copy the address
Do not type it manually. After pasting it, check at least the first and last characters.
Add the memo/tag
If the recipient requires it, enter the identifier exactly as shown.
Check the fee and minimum amount
Make sure that the required amount will be received after the fee is deducted.
Confirm and save the transaction hash
Save the transaction ID / hash so that you can check the status of the transfer.
When are a memo, tag or payment ID required?
Some custodial platforms use a single blockchain address for multiple clients. In such cases, an additional identifier, such as a destination tag, tells the platform which account the deposit should be credited to.
If such an identifier is required, a missing or incorrectly entered memo/tag may prevent the deposit from being credited automatically and may require additional review.
Therefore, if the recipient provides a memo or tag, copy both the address and the corresponding identifier.
When does a test transfer make sense?
For a new address, a new network or a larger amount, a small test transfer can be a useful additional check.
First, send a small amount and check whether the address, network and any required tag are correct and whether the deposit has been received.
You can then complete the rest of the transfer.
DO NOT ASSUME THE ADDRESS ALONE IS ENOUGH
Some EVM networks use addresses with the same or a similar format.
The fact that an address “looks valid” does not automatically mean that the recipient supports the selected network. Always check the crypto-asset, network and address together.
Frequently asked questions about crypto networks and transfers
What happens if I select the wrong network?
It depends on the network used and the recipient’s infrastructure. In some cases, recovery may be possible but may require technical intervention or an additional fee. In other cases, the funds may remain inaccessible. Do not assume that an incorrectly sent transfer can be easily reversed.
Are ERC-20 and Ethereum the same thing?
Not exactly. ERC-20 is a token standard on Ethereum. When you see “ERC-20” when making a withdrawal, it usually refers to transferring the relevant token through the Ethereum network. Always follow the network information shown by both the sending and receiving platforms.
Why is USDC available on multiple networks?
USDC is supported on different blockchain networks. Simply selecting USDC is therefore not enough. You also need to check which network the recipient accepts for the specific deposit. The address and network must match the information shown by the recipient.
What is a transaction hash?
A transaction hash, also commonly called a TXID or transaction ID, is a unique identifier for a blockchain transaction. You can use it to check the status of the transfer in the relevant blockchain explorer.
Do I always need to make a test transfer?
Not necessarily. However, for a new address, a new network or a larger amount, a small test transfer can be a sensible additional check before the main transfer.
Where can I see the networks supported by Altcoins.bg?
When making a deposit or withdrawal with Altcoins.bg, you will see the currently supported networks for the relevant crypto-asset. Use the information displayed directly on the platform, as supported networks may change over time.

Check the network before you send
If in doubt, do not confirm the transfer. Check the crypto-asset, network, address and any required memo/tag. If you are unsure, review the latest instructions or contact the Altcoins.bg team.
